Making Lives Better
After serving in the United States Military during the Vietnam War, Robert’s desire to learn continued to grow as he moved through employment opportunities, eventually obtaining an apprenticeship at the Steam Fitter’s Plumbers Union. After four years working as a journeyman/foreman, Robert decided to open his very own landscaping construction business, which he ran for over 25 years, creating beautiful serene environments for his customers.
As an Eagle Scout, Owen’s passion for helping others began as a young man. His caring nature, along with his desire to make lives better led him to his 6 year career in healthcare at Blue Shield of California. During this time, Owen focused on reducing the cost of healthcare by directly working with medical groups and hospitals to improve affordability & quality of care through the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program. Owen noticed that many admissions, missed medications, delayed hospital discharges and missed physician appointments were due to the lack of support in the client’s home. Having received his MBA from California State University in Sacramento, Owen blends his entrepreneurial spirit, education and healthcare background, to bring elder home care services to the next level.
With Robert’s understanding of business through 25 years of experience combined with Owen’s knowledge of the healthcare industry, the father and son team have joined forces to make lives better throughout El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Placerville, Rancho Cordova, Shingle Springs, El Dorado, Rescue, Diamond Springs, Camino, Lotus, Roseville and Garden Valley.

Behind the heart
When Robert’s wife was diagnosed with dementia at an unusually young age, Robert and Owen took it upon themselves to learn as much as they could about the disease and how best to care for her. Through this research, their eyes were opened to the immense need for high quality home care services in their local and surrounding communities.
Nurse Next Door is a locally owned, operated and experienced company that provides easy access to care services and will do whatever it takes to help seniors celebrate aging. To Owen and Robert, home care means more than just routine medical and non-medical tasks. It’s about caring, not just health care.
