Lou has participated in several medical organizations such as the Oncology Nursing Society and American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Lou recognized the need for quality, compassionate care for the community of Lake County. In addition to senior home care, the Nurse Next Door team in The Villages plan on assisting post-operative patients, women with high risk pregnancies and special needs families in their homes to improve quality of life. Behind the heart
Lou Acuff, the Executive Director, also grew up in Lake County and has been a local nurse for over 40 years. Certified in Hospice and Palliative Nursing for the past 12 years. She is very committed to continuing education, for both herself and as an instructor, in order to provide quality senior home care to her community. Most recently, Lou was a Registered Nurse with Cornerstone Hospice for 14 years, holding several key positions including case manager, clinical liaison manager and most recently, the Executive Manager of Access. Lou was the recipient of the first Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association’s “Hospice Spirit Award” in 2006 and was most recently nominated for the Barbara Janosko Excellence in Leadership Award from the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association.
