Nurse Next Door Named One of British Columbia's Top 10 Employers
Nurse Next Door, one of British Columbia’s largest senior care providers, was recognized as one of the province’s top 10 employers by BCBusiness Magazine’s annual Best Companies to Work For in BC award program. Ranking in the sixth spot, Nurse Next Door became the only healthcare organization to make the list.
“What is incredible is being the only healthcare organization to make the top ten,” says Ken Sim, Nurse Next Door Co-Founder. “Organizations within our industry often find themselves facing labour troubles so we made it a focus to break that trend and become a great employer.”
Despite British Columbia’s unemployment rate of 4.4 percent, among the lowest in the country, Nurse Next Door has been able to attract and retain talent through its company culture, open book financials, profit sharing, employee stock options and flexible schedules. With franchise locations throughout British Columbia, Nurse Next Door is set to expand across the country.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for our hard work in attracting top talent,” added fellow Co-Founder, John DeHart. “Getting the right people who are passionate about what we do has been one of the keys to our success.”
Most recently, Nurse Next Door developed The Mommy Shift Program, helping stay-at-home moms participate in meaningful, part-time work, while their kids are at school. The unique new program has received national media attention and has opened up an entirely new labour pool for the company.
