Alyshia Vogt has started a Nurse Next Door franchise in Victoria, a service that provides in-home care for seniors. She has been a registered nurse for three years. It's the second franchise for Vancouver Island after Chris Wilkinson established one in Nanaimo about a month ago. "Our hospitals and care facilities are facing very difficult challenges in caring for our seniors and it is our aging loved ones that are suffering," said Vogt. "As an entrepreneur, I wanted to step up and help address this challenge by keeping seniors where they want to be - in their own homes."

Nurse Next Door provides a range of services from two-hour per week companionship to 24-hour, round-the-clock-care. Call 590-5519.
