Rainy-day survival
Kristan Ash,
Vice-president of franchise and business development, Nurse Next Door (nursenextdoor.ca)

The bursts of pink and yellow hearts and flowers that adorn Nurse Next Door's fleet of little vehicles are automatic smile-makers, even on rainy days. NND VP Kristan Ash, mom of two and executive in charge of all kinds of comfort and care for clients of this home healthcare service, loves those hearts and flowers.
But she has other survival tips for when the rainy season hits.
"I'll make a pot of soup and a fresh loaf of bread. I'm a good prairie girl from Regina. I know what to do in cold winters, and I've adapted it to the rain," says Ash. "I'm a comfort girl through and through."
She works coziness into career moments, too.
"I'm on the phone a lot with franchise partners all across the country. I'll drive down to the beach at White Rock and watch the rain but be inside my truck.
"That's the power of the hands-free. I can haev my computer and have some coffee and do my calls and watch the rain fall into the water. There's nothing better."
A final rainy-day time? "I curl up in front of the fire with a good book and a glass of wine. Caymus Zinfandel."
