Owners John and Jeff bring a passion for community engagement, relationship building, extensive sales & marketing experience, a passion for workforce development and employee engagement and extensive business development skills (operationally and customer/employee-centric).
John Valencia has an MBA with a focus on organization development. He has 20+ years of executive nonprofit management experience in the areas of higher education, youth mobilization, and environmental sustainability. Previously, he served as the vice chancellor, workforce & organizational development for Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, where he was instrumental in helping youth pursue their education. In addition, John has served on nonprofit Boards of Directors and received awards for his community service, including the San Diego METRO Magazine’s 40 under 40 and San Diego’s Citizen of the Year Award. For many years, John owned and operated a successful international manufacturing and wholesale company.
Jeff Wheeler has a Bachelor’s degree from California State University at Stanislaus. Jeff has 10+ years of national-level executive health-related nonprofit management experience at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the American Lung Association. Jeff has owned and operated a successful commercial property management and land development company.
Together, they have dedicated the majority of their careers improving the lives of those in their communities. It was very important for them to find a company that also had a purpose focused on improving the lives of others. Nurse Next Door’s culture, philosophy and Happier Aging mission aligned perfectly with theirs.
