Getting Care Should be Easy
When Ken Sim’s pregnant wife, Teena, was placed on emergency bed rest, Ken discovered the challenges in finding reliable home care he could trust. Inspired by his struggle to find quality care, Ken and his co-founder, John DeHart, launched Nurse Next Door Home Care Services in 2001. But they didn’t want to open just another home care company; they wanted to provide a better way of providing care.

Screened and Tested
Your loved one is in great hands. We run comprehensive reference checks and criminal record checks to provide our clients with peace of mind. All our caregivers have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, so you receive quality care you can trust.
Licensed and Insured
Our caregivers and nurses have a range of skills and qualifications – from Personal Support Workers to Registered Nurses. For your peace of mind, we ensure our caregivers are licensed and insured.
Comprehensive Training
We set our caregivers up for success by providing training that aligns with our core values and brand promise, including comprehensive onboarding to ensure they deliver quality home care.
Practical Orientation

Long-term Retraining
To stay up-to-date with our rapidly growing systems and procedures, caregivers who have worked with us long-term are invited back for retraining. This helps them refresh their skills and stay up to date with best practices in caregiving.

As Vice-President of Global Franchise Development, Arif has 18+ years of experience with Nurse Next Door. He plays an integral role in expanding the company’s growth into global markets, including Australia and England. Over the years, Arif has overseen the company’s growth from one location in Vancouver to 400+ units in four countries.
Arif is an enthusiastic leader and mentor with experience in new market expansion, sales and marketing, business development, operations and people. He’s passionate about building a business with heart and bringing Happier Aging to more and more people around the world.
Arif has completed a certified executive program with Singularity University and in 2017, was awarded Business in Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40 Award.
Married with two children, Arif enjoys fitness, golf, skiing and travel, and coaching kids’ soccer.

We also offer a complimentary Caring Consult™, during which one of our care designers will help you determine the amount of care you may require. We'll then work with you to balance your budget and needs and find a home care option for you.
Can I trial Nurse Next Door or do I have to sign a long-term contract?
You are not locked into a long-term contract as a Nurse Next Door client.
To try out Nurse Next Door, just contact us to book a complimentary, no-obligation Caring Consult™. One of our care designers will visit your home to assess your needs and design a care plan with you, including frequency and duration of care.
Are your home care services only for seniors?
No. We provide home care services to people of all ages. While our specialty is providing Happier Aging® experiences to seniors, we also assist with disability care, post-operative care, and more for children and adults.

Will I have the same Care Team all the time?
At Nurse Next Door, we strive to provide consistent care with regularly assigned caregivers. If your Caregiver isn’t available, we will ensure a suitable replacement that meets your unique needs.
Does Nurse Next Door conduct a background check for Caregivers?
Yes, all Nurse Next Door Caregivers are carefully screened with criminal background checks, vulnerable sector checks and reference checks. We verify our Caregivers' educational credentials upon hire and ensure, on an annual basis, that every Nurse is registered and in good standing with their respective College of Nurses.
