Sharee Smalling-Leach, MBA, MSN, BSN, RN, is a highly accomplished nursing professional and educator. Sharee Smalling-Leach brings a wealth of experience in clinical practice, healthcare leadership, and academic instruction. With a steadfast commitment to integrity, compassion, accountability, and effective communication, she has excelled in various capacities across behavioral health, medical-surgical nursing, crisis response, and higher education.
Ms. Smalling-Leach holds an impressive academic portfolio, including a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Phoenix (2011), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from La Sierra University (2004), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Northern Caribbean University (2003). She continues her educational journey by pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Organizational Leadership at Andrews University.
Sharee brings more than 25 years of experience in teaching, administration and healthcare sector. In addition, she has been recognized for founding and running a successful non-profit organization called Transparent Hands Foundation since 2014. Driven by her passion for making lives better through tailored elderly care services in Northern Virginia, she launched her Nurse Next Door franchise. She strongly believes that Happier Aging can be achieved at home with the support of skilled caregivers.

Ms. Smalling-Leach has extensive experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing, including crisis response roles during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has managed complex patient care, coordinated treatment plans, and worked alongside multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
Healthcare Leadership
In her leadership roles, she has overseen nursing staff, facilitated healthcare operations, and contributed to strategic decision-making in various clinical settings. Her expertise in staffing, performance evaluation, and operational management has been instrumental in improving patient outcomes and organizational efficiency.
Academic Instruction
A dedicated educator, Ms. Smalling-Leach has served as a nursing faculty member at multiple institutions, providing theoretical instruction and hands-on clinical training. She has developed curriculum, mentored students, and led simulation-based learning experiences to prepare future nursing professionals.With her extensive background in healthcare leadership, patient care, and academic mentorship, Ms. Smalling-Leach continues to be a passionate advocate for advancing healthcare quality and nursing education.

When should we consider 24-hour home care?
Use this list to help you decide if continuous monitoring is something you should consider:
- The person doesn’t sleep through the night (or gets up more than 2-3 times per night).
- The person has difficulty moving around and is at a high risk of falls.
- The person was recently (or is about to be) discharged from the hospital and needs constant monitoring.
- The person’s spouse or relative is exhausted from helping day and night.

How much does Nurse Next Door cost?
Nurse Next Door's services vary in price depending on the level of care required and the Nurse Next Door Care team that services your area. To get a better idea of pricing in your area, speak to one of our Care Services Specialists—we're open any time, 24/7.
We also offer a complimentary Caring Consult™, during which one of our care designers will help you determine the amount of care you may require. We'll then work with you to balance your budget and needs and find a home care option for you.
Can I trial Nurse Next Door or do I have to sign a long-term contract?
You are not locked into a long-term contract as a Nurse Next Door client.

Are your home care services only for seniors?
No. We provide home care services to people of all ages. While our specialty is providing Happier Aging® experiences to seniors, we also assist with disability care, post-operative care, and more for children and adults.

Will I have the same Care Team all the time?
At Nurse Next Door, we strive to provide consistent care with regularly assigned caregivers. If your Caregiver isn’t available, we will ensure a suitable replacement that meets your unique needs.
Does Nurse Next Door conduct a background check for Caregivers?
Yes, all Nurse Next Door Caregivers are carefully screened with criminal background checks, vulnerable sector checks and reference checks. We verify our Caregivers' educational credentials upon hire and ensure, on an annual basis, that every Nurse is registered and in good standing with their respective College of Nurses.
