8 Questions To Ask During A Caring Consult
As a family seeking home care support for a loved one, it’s no surprise that you probably have a million questions. We want you to feel comfortable trusting Nurse Next Door with Mom or Dad, so we offer a free Caring Consult to talk about their needs and create a program that works for them.
You’ll meet with one of our Care Designers in the comfort of your own home and discuss your care needs, questions and put together a care plan. A Care Designer has a health care background and is an experienced senior/caregiver matchmaker. He or she will work with you to identify Mom or Dad’s needs, and what makes them happy.
Here are 8 questions to ask during a Nurse Next Door caring consult:
Can I call anytime?
Our 24/7 Care Team is available to support you at any time, in any situation. We want you to feel reassured that you’re in good hands (and we want to make it possible for you to take a much-deserved break).
How is Nurse Next Door different from other home care support companies?
While we’ll devote ourselves to your loved one for all the reasons you called us, we also make it a personal goal to help Mom or Dad get back to doing what they love. Part of our Happier Aging approach is to ask “what did you use to love doing, that you no longer do?” No matter how big or small it is, we’ll work towards that goal–all while providing exceptional care that lets Mom or Dad stay at home.
How many times a week should we receive care?
It depends on the level of care needed, but we suggest three times a week at the minimum. Do you need support with daily tasks, or do you need round-the-clock medical monitoring? When you meet with our Care Designer, they’ll help you determine the best schedule for your loved one.
What’s the cost of home care support services, and will my insurance cover it?
Costs vary depending on location and level of care required.
Do you always send a nurse?
Nurse Next Door gives professional nurses the opportunity to do nursing the way they always imagined it could be. If you don’t need expert medical care, we can match Mom or Dad with a caregiver or companion who has all of the other skills to keep them company, help them cook, run errands, drive them to appointments and so on.
How do you hire your caregivers?
We carefully screen every candidate for you. This includes reference checks, criminal checks, credential checks, TB tests and more. All of our caregivers and nurses are insured and bonded. But this is just one aspect of our hiring practices; each individual must align with our core values. We only hire people who are passionate about care, are good listeners, and who want to bring happier aging to life for clients.
Will we have the same caregiver or nurse all the time?
We carefully match seniors to caregivers or nurses who are good personality fits. If your caregiver is ever unavailable, we’ll find you another amazing person to fill in.
Do we have to sign a contract?
No contracts needed! We know that sometimes, things change. But if you need to cancel, please give us at least 24 hours notice to avoid any cancellation fees.
